DONALD JAMES LOVE, II SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION
The Donald James Love, II memorial fund was established
in memory of a great young man affectionately called “Love”
by his family and friends. He was a giving person who was full of
hope, good will and love. Donald’s untimely death was due
to violence that so often plagues young adults in this country.
His mother set up this fund to help acknowledge young men and women
who display some of Donald’s renown characteristics such as
his patience and caring for others.
Applicants must be between the ages of 14 and 40 years old and must
be enrolled in an educational program from grades eight through
college or trade school. The nominee must demonstrate good will
and the importance of edifying others in their daily lives. These
persons must display such qualities by:
Being a student: an active member of their local church, being
helpful to others, and active in their community. The
student must retain a 2.0 grade point average and is required to
write a 300-500 worded essay on the topic of "Love" and
what it means to them.
Being a mentor: sharing constructive, disciplined, caring, and helpfulness
that creates a positive impact on others. The mentor must retain
a 2.0 grade point average and is required to write a 300-500 worded
essay on the topic of "Love" and what it means to them.
Being a mentee: exhibiting the ability and willingness to become
a good person to others as well as themselves. The applicant must
value learning, sharing, be disciplined, embrace dreams and goals,
and most of all eagerly resolve to accomplish their goals. The
mentee must retain a 2.0 grade point average and is required to
write a 300-500 worded essay on the topic of "Love" and
what it means to them.
The recommending party must nominate a young man or woman they deem
suitable and deserving of such an opportunity. The candidate must
exhibit the basic characteristics of “Love” genuinely
and unselfishly. Please fill out and submit our
Online Application Form which includes a letter of support for
your nominee. Recipients are chosen by the Board of Directors for
the scholarship fund. Applications will be accepted beginning April
15, 2004. The deadline for submissions is August 31st. The winners
will be notified on November 27th, Donald's birthday. Further notification
